The Go Wichita Convention & Visitors Bureau made history when its marketing plan for the first tourism business improvement district (TBID) in Kansas was approved by Wichita City Council. Already the largest destination marketing organization in the state, Go Wichita solidified its position as an industry leader in the region.

“With the unanimous passage of the plan, our elected officials showed their strong commitment to the Wichita tourism industry,” said Susie Santo, Go Wichita President and CEO. “Starting in 2015 with the implementation of the TBID, we will have the ability to market Wichita at unprecedented levels to motivate a visit to our community.”

Go Wichita utilized a comprehensive visitor profile study to outline its plan. For the first time, dedicated television, radio, print and digital advertising will comprehensively market the destination to the leisure visitor. In addition, Go Wichita will increase marketing efforts aimed at attracting the convention market.

“Tourism is an economic driver, as visitors spend approximately $1 billion annually in our community,” Santo said. “The TBID funding will be used to market the city and ultimately increase the economic impact for our community. This effort will truly benefit all of Wichita.”
