On the last Saturday of every month, school age children can participate in this educational, family-friendly program. Come in anytime during those four hours, and leave when you're ready. This is an open program that is free with Museum admission. Programs may include themed scavenger hunts, artifact exploration, crafts, games, and take-home prizes. Every month is different, fun, and educational!

Study the art and artifacts by ancient Mesoamerican cultures, learn about their styles and techniques, and put them to use in a hands –on activity. Family ArtVentures are drop-in art explorations. Stop by the Welcome Desk to pick up an activity sheet that will take you through the focus gallery and end up with the project in our studio. No reservations are required for this free event that lasts about an hour.

This exhibit features clothing from the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum’s collection. The designer Howard Greer’s “ready to wear” designs were sold from the Topaz Room of the Innes department store located in Wichita and are featured in this exhibit.

Everything Goes in Wichita! Reflects the goings on in Wichita in 1872! A booming cow town as a result of the Chisolm Trail, Wichita Indians inhabiting the territory, Santa Fe Railroad making it's way through and all the shenanigans in the Delano District adds to the historic element of this ghost tour! During late spring and early summer, the Lake Afton Public Observatory presents the program, “Black Holes in Space”. Visit the Observatory to learn how astronomers expose the mysteries surrounding these massive gravity wells even though they cannot be directly observed. During the program you will have the opportunity to observe Saturn and its beautiful ring system; a super-giant red star that will probably become a black hole when it dies; a multiple star system; a globular cluster… Visit Website

Set in 1860s Massachusetts, it is a heart rending tale about the four sisters of the March family, who lose their wealth while the family patriarch is away serving in the Civil War but gain much more - love and unity. Matthew Eames is a ceramic artist originating from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He received his bachelor of fine arts degree in Ceramics from the University of Hartford in Connecticut. This exhibition fulfills a requirement of his Master of Fine Arts degree program.

Botanica is excited to announce it's first exhibit ever! Once Upon a Time is an interactive exhibit where fairy tales come to life through interactive stage sets, kiosks with fun graphics and buttons that educate and enhance the spoken narrative. Kick-Off Celebration:  May 9, 7:30 p.m.

This exhibition gives tribute to Wichita artist C.A. Seward (1884-1939). Seward helped establish Wichita as an important national center for print making in the 1920s through 1940s. The exhibition is guest curated by Barbara Thompson, granddaughter of C.A. Seward.
