The Hubble Space Telescope has been in orbit for 20 years now. Join us at the Observatory as we talk about the Hubble’s amazing contributions to astronomy as we look through our big telescope at Saturn, clouds of interstellar gas, clusters of stars, a spiral galaxy and a star that has a planet orbiting it.

Youthville invites audiences to experience this moving showcase. The Walk A Mile project serves disadvantages youth in Youthville's care through artistic expression.

What does it take for an object to become an artifact in themuseum's permanent collection? Why does it belong in a museum? See what the historical museum has acquired recently in this special exhibit. Final Friday reception Aug. 27 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. - Free admission.

Conveying the abstract notion of speed challenged artists since the early 20th century, when the invention of photography and advent of the automobile offered an exciting and entirely new vantage point from which to experience time and space. In Plane View features photographs by Smithsonian Institution photographer Carolyn Russo, as she showcases the aesthetic quality of famous aircraft. Final Friday reception on July 30, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
